Want a larger settlement, hire a public adjuster!
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A state audit on claims filed in 2008 and 2009 reveals property owners are likely to win higher settlements from a state-backed insurer if they hire a public adjuster. The auditing arm of the Florida Legislature said Friday it might take more time to settle disagreements with the Citizens Property Insurance Corp., but the payment is higher in most cases.
