Allstate will close in Miami-Dade
Allstate will close a claims office in South Miami-Dade and lay off 66 people.
The workers handled telephone calls regarding auto claims, and the company is consolidating this function with other offices around Florida and out of state. Customer calls will be directed automatically to an office with available staff.
The company's claims adjusters and drive-up claims offices won't be affected, so customers should not notice any change in service, said Mike Siemienas, an Allstate spokesman.
Workers at the claims office, 8501 SW 124th Ave., will receive at least 60 days' notice of the closing and may receive severance pay, Siemienas said. The company informed the state labor department of the layoffs on Tuesday with and specified a closing date of July 1.
